A Heartwarming Announcement

March '18

This month I have an exciting announcement — at least it is for me. My book makes its debut next month! Midlife Magic: The 7 Day Self Care Plan to Boost Your Energy and Make You Smile will give a woman stuck at the midlife crossroads that positive first step on the journey to reinvent her life.

My own midlife travels years ago led to writing this book. When my younger son headed off for college, an empty nest propelled me on a sabbatical voyage around the world. Through a variety of adventures and encounters, I discovered what meager attention I had been paying to my own needs. Like many women, I had devoted many years to raising children, and my professional work involved caring for students whom I taught and advised.

Traveling in foreign lands on my own, forced me to focus on personal concerns every day. Initially I had to find a place to sleep and food to eat. Then I began to notice more self-care needs, such as finding warm connections with others.

In the years that followed when I worked with return-to college students as the Dean of Continuing Education at Wellesley College, and later as a Midlife Coach for women, I saw the critical role self care plays for any woman embarked on an adventure to reinvent her life. If the traveler isn’t strong, or resilient, she probably isn’t going too far, nor will she be a happy on the road.

This awareness motivated me to write Midlife Magic. I wanted to create a user-friendly way for a midlife woman to create an individualized self-care plan. This book guides the reader through an easy-to-follow program where she adopts one self-care skill a day.

Day 1 ~ Self Compassion

Day 2 ~ Happy Body

Day 3 ~ Supportive Connections

Day 4 ~ Optimal Organization

Day 5 ~ Nurturing Environment

Day 6 ~ Time on Your Terms

Day 7 ~ Completion/Celebration

The plan is simple.

? On each day, you join the author in a different locale as she travels the world on her own midlife adventure and discovers a self-care skill she desperately needs. You only learn one self-care skill a day to make it easy.

?Then you develop this skill yourself with specific instructions along with examples from other midlife women the author has advised and coached.

?Finally, you select one action step (from a list of many) to put into practice that very day — just one step.

By the end of the week with your personal self-care plan in place, you will be an energetic and hearty traveler — ready to plunge into your midlife adventure with a smile on your face.

The launch date is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25th. I’ll keep you posted.

May I also extend my thanks to all of you who have supported me along the way. Your encouraging comments have lightened my journey. (You may have noted the self-care skill for Day 3 is Supportive Connections. Believe me they make all the difference.)

Happy spring!
