End of the Year Review

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to believe it’s already December. I’m a bit behind on my holiday “to do’s”, but I have carved out time to reflect on the past 12 months and dream about the year ahead. Before the year slips away, you can take the time to reflect and dream too, if you like. I suggest using a “bits and snatches” approach. Just grab a dab of time here and a dollop of time there. For example, if you’re in your car, driving to the dentist (that’s where I started my reflection), why not initiate your own review of the last 12 months?

Responding to a few queries might help this process. What were the highlights of your year? How has your life changed for the better? What accomplishments would you like to celebrate? Now what about those wishes that didn’t come true? Do you still want to keep them on your list for next year? And what will you put at the top of your list of desires for the upcoming year?

Research on making any change has shown that an unbelievable 75% of your effort needs to go into anchoring the change you wish to make – that is, making it a habit to do things in the new way – which is why the coaching structure with its regular, constructive sessions works so well in fostering productive change.

So once you have your intentions for the year in place, you can begin to plan how you will make your dreams a reality. And remember, most of your effort will need to be focussed on creating new habits if you want your dreams to come true.
